I’m glad someone else put their photos from this cool event up on a public page. These are by Kim Fuller and are posted to the Ballard Park Facebook Page, or were tagged with Ballard Park by Kim. Not everyone I’ve shared the link with was able to access the page, so here’s a sample.
Ballard Park is not really a garden, it’s an old quarry in Newport, RI, that has been made into a park. They have this annual event where people set up creative displays that are lit mostly from the inside. They also project colored lights onto the rockface backdrop of the quarry. I went last night with a bunch of my sisters, and we had such a good time. None of our photos came out, so we borrowed these, taken by Daniel McManus.
Ballard park is home to live concerts too, and while I’ve never been to one, I hear the acoustics are awesome. You’re surrounded on two sides by sheer rock walls. It’s a cool thing to do with an old quarry.
Yes! That is actually a candid shot of Steve Tyler with my daughter Grace, taken at an outdoor art fair in Marshfield, Massachusetts, which is about 20 minutes south of Boston. He saw my daughter in her wheelchair and came over and started hamming it up with her, pretending he was about to eat her cotton candy. Then it turned into a “My mouth is bigger than yours” contest, and my ex snapped this photo.
